Finance, engineering and trading led hiring demand, while Bitcoin, Ethereum and Solana were the most frequently requested blockchain skills.

  • Cryptocurrency job postings more than tripled from 382 in July to 1,241 in September, according to one firm, signaling a hiring rebound after a subdued first half of 2026.
  • Applications, however, fell from 25,700 in July to fewer than 20,000 in September, suggesting that competition for specialized workers may be tightening as openings increase.

Cryptocurrency companies are in hiring mode again with job postings more than tripling between July and September as the industry emerged from a subdued first half of 2026.

Companies listed 1,241 positions in September, compared to 886 in August and 382 in July, according to data from crypto-focused recrruitment platform CryptoJobsList. The September total was more than double the 573 in January, which was the busiest month of the year until August.

The number of different companies recruiting also increased to 125 in September, compared to 107 in July, which then dipped to 77 in August.

A rebound would be expected in September, as business gets back to normal from the seasonal lull in proceedings over the Northern Hemisphere summer months. The data, however, suggests seasonality isn’t the whole story. The acceleration was already well underway in August, with the month’s figures doubling July’s.

The CryptoJobsList data for 2025 also shows no comparable August-September surge as would be expected if the end of summer was such a prominent factor. That said, 2025 was a subdued year for crypto hirings from start to finish. The most active month was October, with a mere 373 listings. The figures were flat throughout July, August and September.

While listings may have surged in September this year, applications have not. CryptoJobsList recorded 25,700 applications in July, 24,631 in August and just under 20,000 in September.

The platform interprets this divergence as evidence that competition for specialist workers is tightening, though its data alone doesn’t establish why application numbers have gone the opposite way to listings.

The comparison of listings nevertheless provides some indication of where demand lies. Finance was the largest job category over the past three months, followed by engineering and trading, with stablecoins, AI, security and compliance all also in the top 10. Bitcoin was the most frequently sought blockchain familiarity, followed by Ethereum and Solana, as would be expected being the three largest networks in the crypto industry.

CryptoJobsList’s data suggests the crypto job market enters the fourth quarter with a lot more openings than any time previously this year, but not necessarily more applicants chasing them for the time being.
